    Introducing Map View

Today we’re introducing the Map — a new way to discover photography from around the world, plotted by location.

    Browse the World

Open the Map to explore works from photographers in every corner of the globe. Pan, zoom, and discover places you’ve never been — or revisit your own favorites through someone else’s lens.

Put Your Photos on the Map

Photos appear on the Map when they have location data. Tag a photo with a place, or rely on the GPS coordinates already embedded in your EXIF data — Lightfall will use either to plot your work.

    Approximate Locations, by Default

Privacy matters. Locations shown on the Map are approximate — never exact coordinates — to help protect sensitive sites, wildlife, and your own privacy. You can fine-tune how much photo location sharing in your content and privacy settings or on individual photos.

Try out the Map and let us know what you think — send feedback to [email protected].

  • Welcome to Lightfall

    Welcome to Lightfall

Since we opened registration, photographers from around the world have been joining, sharing their art, and connecting through a shared love of photography. The response has been incredible!

We wanted to start this blog to share more about what we’re building and where we’re headed. To start, we wanted to share how Lightfall came to be.

Lightfall was created in 2025 by our founder, Nick Daugherty, an engineer with a lifelong passion for photography. Nick had been searching for a space that felt genuinely dedicated to photography. He loved taking and sharing photos, but most platforms had become crowded, full of manipulative algorithms, and didn’t feel like they were made for photographers anymore. So he decided to build the place he had always wanted.

Lightfall is that place: a community built for those who are passionate about the art and craft of photography. It’s a dedicated space where photography comes first and where everything you see is human-created art.

Our goal is to make Lightfall the best place to share and discover photography. One that celebrates the art, the craft, and the people behind the lens.

We have a lot of exciting things in the works, including new features, a Pro membership, a mobile app, and tools designed to make it easier to share your work and connect with others. And this blog will be a place to share more of that along with inspiration, behind-the-scenes updates, and stories from our growing community.

If you haven’t joined yet, it’s free to sign up and start sharing your photography today. And if you know someone who would love being part of a community that truly values the art of image-making, invite them to join us.

We’re just getting started, and we’re so glad you’re here.

If you haven’t yet, create your account and join our fast-growing community of passionate photographers!
